Procurement Unit

The Procurement Unit is located in Västervik and currently consists of 14 employees. The Procurement Unit is responsible for purchasing and procurements for six municipalities in northern Kalmar County. The municipalities involved in the collaboration are Hultsfred, Högsby, Mönsterås, Oskarshamn, Vimmerby, and Västervik. The mission of the Procurement Unit is to lead these municipalities' procurement work in a strategic, insightful, and qualitative manner. Our unit is the municipalities' primary tool for educating, implementing, and ensuring that all procurement within the municipalities is conducted on a business-like basis and follows the organizations' guidelines.

The unit delivers approximately 150 - 200 procurements annually and also provides advice, administration, as well as training and information.

In Västervik, we collaborate with the municipalities of Hultsfred, Högsby, Mönsterås, Oskarshamn, and Vimmerby in a joint procurement unit located in Västervik. The strategic importance of procurement is growing and plays a vital role in the development of our municipalities. Together with the municipal operations, we create good business.

Your Tasks

You will work together with knowledgeable and engaged colleagues in a team that works broadly and with great variation within procurement, strategic purchasing work, and advice with a wide range of contacts. As an administrator, you are the unit's face to the outside and often the first contact for both internal and external parties. It is of great importance that you are accommodating and have a service-oriented approach and can adapt your way of conveying information to the recipient and that you communicate in a clear manner.

You will have a varied everyday life with both quick matters and long-term improvement projects. Your tasks include:

  • Management of contracts, contract extensions, and price adjustments.
  • Updating contract information and administration in the contract database.
  • Handling invoices, both incoming and outgoing.
  • Providing public documents and service to our municipalities and suppliers.
  • Directing inquiries correctly and providing support in procurement and purchasing-related matters.
  • Participating in and driving improvement work in project form together with colleagues.

You plan your work independently and have great freedom under responsibility. The position is located in our procurement unit in Västervik.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone with post-secondary or equivalent education in economics, administration, or another relevant field. You have good knowledge in follow-up, reporting, and analysis. For the position, you also need to have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

We consider it an advantage if you have previous experience in public procurement and/or strategic purchasing, both in the public or private sector. If you have previous experience in project work, preferably as a project manager, we also see this as an advantage.

The position places high demands on the ability to collaborate, and as a person, you need to be solution-oriented, responsive, adaptable, responsible, and have a high level of professional integrity.

To succeed in the job, you should be structured, have good systematic and analytical skills, and also be able to communicate in a way that makes it easy to understand. It is important that you are comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously and are responsible for driving these forward.

We are looking for someone who is self-driven, enjoys varied tasks, and sees opportunities in changes that occur. You are a secure and stable person and see collaboration with colleagues as a natural and important part of the work.

It is important for the position that you are an experienced user of the Office suite and have an easy time learning new systems.
